COMPASSION
There is no evil in the world,
Only wounds and fear.
Our hearts are battered
and our love is twisted
and our best intentions
often wasted.
We ache
from the hurt
of not knowing
how to love ourselves
or others.
We take
whatever it takes
to ease our pain,
get us thru another day
all the while waiting and praying for rescue,
Light will blaze forth
And burn off our illusions
Revealing, at last,
Those great white wings
Of our angel-selves.
Oh I am such a sucker
For chick-flicks,
Tear-jerkers,
Drama…
Loss happens,
Tragedies strike,
Compassion arises.
Compassion.
Sets us apart from the animal
(in us)
Lets us take part,
In all of life.
We cry for the sick infant,
The abandoned puppy,
The bullied boy,
The soldier who does not come home.
We cry from compassion.
We cry from our God-Part,
Compassion reminds us
Of that deepest truth;
We are all connected,
All of life is connected.
The wind from the words I speak
Changes the weather in China.
Powerful words,
Thoughts, intentions,
Oh yes!
Strange beliefs..
Who cares,
We might ask?
I care, you care,
Hidden in yourself
This huge caring spirit
Cries at times
For no apparent reason.
Your divinity may be in shadow,
Your divinity is often in shadow.
Your divinity roars against
All your smaller ideas
Of who you think you are
And what you think you want.
You want nothing
Ever,
But to embrace, express
And celebrate your divinity
In this,
The only moment of your life..
