Turn Around

HALF FULL

You go to sleep in the grieving 
of what you do not have.

You awaken in the mourning

over what you have lost.

It’s just a habit shaped by darkness.

Why not sculpt a new one shaped by light?

Radiate joy instead of grief

into this fragile aching world.

Express trust instead of fear.

Gratitude in place of lack.

The same glass is half empty
or full.

Gratitude improves eyesight.

Go forward with arms open
embracing all that life provides.

Celebrate the blessings of life
as life itself
is an undeserved
and holy gift.

even ancient wounds presumed healed

can still pull a veil down between

your heart and someone you wish to love,

it’s a shame to stop after coming this far.

swallow that ego, reveal your hurting,

be human, what harm could come from this.

it might even end all wars..

YOU KNOW YOU'VE GOT IT GOING ON

You Know You’ve Got It Going On

When Love writes a poem,

and the sun floats delightedly into that clean 

blue sky, smiles and points out the ironies 

that make you laugh

at yourself  for being so wrong 

about the many things you thought you were so right about,

When Gratitude writes a prayer

from the blessings of the present moment,

When Forgiveness releases you

from that prison of shame and resentment,

When Truth has the courage to reveal itself

creating safety for itself in others,

When Grief expresses the depths of its own Compassion

for people, things and events,

the soul sighs

and old wounds heal,

When Loneliness reminds you again

of your longing to connect 

to the spirit 

within all forms,

and the essence of others,

When Laughter lifts you out 

of the seriousness

you mistake for being grown up,

the child somersaults within you

and your grocery cart becomes

a roller coaster..

You know you've got it going on!

The wind sings through the beaks of birds,

Poetry flows like exuberant rivers of spring snowmelt,

Joy dances like fluttering leaves of a tree,

Love envelopes everything in warm fog,

Hearts blow open and rise,

Gratitude prays in every direction,

and Peace exists Everywhere!

For just that moment 

before

God breathes in..

Good news!

It only takes one friend

Twisted into the same shape as you

To reflect back

Your brilliance.

Good news!

A good friend brings out

What's best in you-

A good friend helps you make

A good friend of yourself.

Good news!

Happiness loves company too!
